Lets talk RAM

So, I’m coming back into the entertainment industry.  Pretty soon I realize I need an Internet presence.  So I dabble in actors’ digital resources for visibility:  Actors Access, Casting Network, One-on-One.  But ultimately I decide I want my own website…that’ll give me the most flexibility to market myself.   And it’ll be so easy to refer people to my website.  (Easy. Keep that word in mind.)  I can post highlights of my one-woman-show, and give casting directors and agents a chance to see my work while I create new material, or get cast in something.

Step 1:

Capture clips from the taping of my show.

It doesn’t take long before I’m stuck.  While creating the clips I start to get messages and it won’t let me continue the work, “your start-up disk is full,”

What does that mean?

Google.

Okay.  I need more space.

I stumble about and come upon my “activity monitor.”  I only have like 5 GB.  What’s taking up all the space?  I investigate….the clips!  But I need to work with these clips/imovies.  What to do?

Google.

Get more Gigabytes.  What is a Gigabyte?

Google.

Okay.  Solid.  Gigabyte is 1,024 Megabytes.  Megabyte …is …oh, you Google it.

How do I get more GB?  An external drive.

So my husband and I drive to Best Buy and really get our money’s worth – an external drive with 2 TETRABYTES!  I now feel so powerful!  I don’t know if it’s because I own 2T of storage or because I know what a terabyte is.

Either way, I’ve forgotten why I’m doing any of this.
