Ever since I saw my first Judy Garland/Mickey Rooney film -- “I’ve got a barn”... “Let’s put on a show!” -- I’ve been attracted to the world of entertainment.
As a kid I was producing, directing and acting in shows in basements and garages. College theatre seemed like a great place to meet guys but the Villanova Theater Company at Villanova University provided a great foundation for my acting training as well.
Now I’m mad for Manhattan, but it wasn’t always that way. I considered myself a country girl and was scared to death when I first arrived, but exhilarated in a way I had never experienced growing up in Broomall, Pennsylvania.
Within that first year, I was on Broadway and during my professional career I worked the gamut: Off-Broadway, Regional, NYC showcases, Soaps, commercials, episodic TV, voice-overs, and industrials. Lucky me…that journey included working with award winning actors and playwrights.
While raising two daughters, Katherine and Carolee, with husband David, I took a hiatus from the industry but not from the Art. I taught Drama in an elementary school in the New York City school system which included directing plays and making movies. That whole experience was simultaneously, wildly stimulating and bone-crunchingly fatiguing. Over 600 little beings were in my educational care weekly.
Having retired from the NYC DOE in July last year, I’m now back in the business and rarin’ to go. Please stay tuned for the next installment of my entertainment career.
